| Idle is in OPEN LOOP because the tps is closed. The O2 sensors are ignored when the tps is closed (idle position). Everything in the low rpm/load section of a fuel map is marked as closed loop (coloured red) for simplicity. If your engine is not up to normal operating temps the ECU uses the section of the fuel map that is coloured red, which by your reasoning is closed loop .......... BUT, it is in fact running in OPEN LOOP because the engine temp parameter has not been met. Idle works in the same way via the tps.
